Football

This year the football team is already showing great improvement from last season, winning two of three games. They played Bishop Carroll the closest they have in years, losing 28-31. The last time KMC’s football team beat Carroll in football was 1999. This year they have been better offensively and defensively. As of homecoming, they are 3-1. Crusader football is back.

Girls Tennis

The girls varsity tennis team has been getting consistently better. The reigning state champions won their most recent match against Bishop Carroll 5-4. In number one singles, first place was taken either by either KMC’s Clara Whitaker or Reagan Boleski. In number one doubles, Gabby and Sabrina Searl have continued to dominate. The team has placed in the top three at every match so far this season.

Girls Golf

The girls golf team started off this season winning their first three tournaments. Alexa Garrett, a key aspect of the team, finishes regularly in the top five. Garrett placed in the top ten in last year’s state tournament. She has been improving her game and is looking to be a top contender for this year’s state tournament. Their next event is against rival Bishop Carroll. The girls have three more league tournaments before starting postseason play.

Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team won their first competition against Valley Center. Head coach Taryn Scott says that the team is continuing to grow and looking forward to postseason competition.

Boys Soccer

At the Maize South Invitational, KMC played the McPherson Bullpups, winning 2-1 to finish in third place. Alex Truong and David Arriaga scored for KMC. Most recently the team fell to Blue Valley Southwest. 5-1 Oct. 3.

Cross Country

KMC’s runners have only had four meets so far this season. The boys cross country team has been doing well. Erik Enriquez has taken first in both events at JK Gold Classic and Brown Thrush Park. The girls team took first overall, followed by second at the next event. Addie Curtis, Julia Berends, and Kelsey Bruening have all finished in the top five.
