As Kapaun Mt. Carmel begins another school year, students may notice a familiar face missing.

Kelly Dandurand, a 12-year employee of KMC whose most recent position was Dean of Students, officially announced her departure Aug. 3. A statement released by Dandurand recalled “great events” in her KMC tenure, and she also expressed excitement to see this upcoming school year “unfold into excellence in student athletics, academics, and most importantly, Catholic character.”

One of Dandurand’s most visible duties to students was being in charge of detentions, and principal Chris Bloomer said that was just one of her many responsibilities that would now be shared among the other administrators.

“We’ve created a list of duties and responsibilities that are being delivered out to [the other administrators],” Bloomer said.

Bloomer also stated in an Aug. 2 update to faculty and staff that KMC will wait until the spring of 2019 to begin searching for a new administrator to fill the vacancy caused by Dandurand’s exit.
