College football is officially under 100 days away. It is time to get excited. The draft is what needs covered now. Kansas State had two players drafted in 2017, while Kansas did not produce any draftees this year, at least not in football. Kansas’ Fish Smithson became an undrafted free agent and got picked up by the Redskins. Elijah Lee went to the Vikings with the 232nd pick, and Jordan Willis went to the Bengals with the 73rd pick.

Kansas State also had two undrafted free agents that have not been picked up yet in Dante Barnett and Charmeachealle Moore. Although Kansas State lost these valuable starters, most of the Wildcats were young last year and are looking to make a run this year.

Kansas football is looking in the right direction as well. After pulling in two wins last year, a very young team has nothing to lose and has potential to improve. In my opinion they could win five games this coming year but they will only actually win four. Kansas State has potential to make the playoffs as best case scenario and at least a top 10 finish. The sport that Kansas is not exactly known for will be on the rise for all parties this year.

In coaching news, Charlie Weis, former Kansas coach, is finally off of payroll from the university after three years. Kansas State’s Bill Snyder has overcame cancer in just the past few months and is ready to lead his young team for yet another year.
